Q. I know the foods that I SHOULD eat on with my diabetes very well, but I
have trouble implementing them into my diet. When following my
recommended plan, I just go with plain broiled meat, salad, baked
potato, etc. That gets VERY boring. I am considering signing up for GlucoMenu.
I have some questions though. During the summer, we do a lot of camping
(with an rv). Will there be items on the menus that will work well in
this environment? Also, I am away from home 2 days a week. Are there
menu items that I can take with me for lunch?
A. Our menus are seasonal. We do include seasonal salads, grilled items,
etc. during the summer months. We also include sandwiches and frozen
entrees that could be packed to take for lunch.
Some members select a few days of menus that will work better for them in
certain situations and repeat them. This might work well for you when
you are away from home for lunch and also when camping. We recommend
repeating entire days of menus instead of substituting a meal because we
balance calories, fiber, sodium, and other nutrients throughout the day.
